How do horoscope readings with pets work? In order to calculate a horoscope for the birth of any human or animal, three things are needed. 1. Month day and year of birth 2. Exact time to the minute of birth if possible 3. Location (City or State or Country/Province of birth) Because pet owners are severely limited in obtaining this information a completed horoscope on the animal by itself is virtually impossible. Time of birth is the most difficult thing to know, since most pet owners do not record this, not even in breeding facilities. However the birth date alone with the year is sufficient to give enough valid information on the planetary placements by degree in the signs of the zodiac. The animal's planetary positions can be put into partial synastry with the owner's natal horoscope for a "relationship" type of reading. This will not give a total personality reading of the animal. But it is enough information to get a general idea of basic personality issues and tendencies of the animal on very broad and general terms. House placements and rising signs cannot be calculated without the time and location of birth. Only planetary placements in signs may be interpreted. That is only one third of an overall reading. With this partial synastry reading the relationship dynamic between horse and rider (owner and pet) can be surmised. This means that the lessons this animal will teach you will be read in YOUR horoscope, based on how your pets planets affect or aspect YOUR chart. This will indicate what area of life YOUR perception as the owner of the pet might be affected. How you affect your animal's perception of reality may only be determined in part, without the pet's completed chart. Many animals are seasonal breeders. The sun sign may not play as vital a roll in their chart as it does in humans, though it is still significant. Animals as a rule are governed by the moon sign. The moon changes sign every two days whereas the sun remains in the same sign for a month. A herd of horses all born in April for example will all be either an Aries or a Taurus. The moon sign will determine the more individual traits to the animal's personality. The moon symbolically rules the primitive and instinctive life and the subconscious mind. Animals are closer to this state of being then humans since they are instinctive by nature. A horoscope analysis would be mostly useful for the horse and rider combination or any situation where animal training is an issue. Some strategies for training issues or difficulties might be worked out by understanding the instinctive dynamic of the animal's personality and your coping mechanisms in relations to it. I believe this is a valuable tool for those individuals more open minded in the animal training industry. Lets discuss a common horse training scenario that many in the industry might be faced with. Many riders end up taking a horse to a trainer for a number of reasons. The first being the animal is badly behaved or simply untrained and the rider is inexperienced. A horse may choose to not want to participate in any type of activity a rider may wish to be involved in whether this is jumping, or racing, or dressage or cow work. When one hits a brick wall with a particular animal in the training process where there is a conflict between horse and rider which might be violent to some degree, (lets say the horse constantly refuses to jump, or throws the rider, or simply is not very cooperative in general). Lets say this is still the case after all of the mainstream obvious things have been taken care of. The rider has had a full veterinary work up, its teeth have been checked, its back has been assessed by a chiropractor, its had acupuncture and all possibility of physical issue has been addressed and still the progress is not forth coming. It could be as plain and simple as the fact that we have a basic personality conflict between the horse and rider. Humans have a tendency to project their psychological "stuff" onto their animals and it is not uncommon for a person to have unrealistic expectations of what the horse or animal is expected to do in relation to what it is CAPABLE of doing mentally or physically. Personality conflicts happen in day to day life with people... logic says, they are bound to happen with animals as well. If you consider how difficult it is for people to get through their interpersonal issues with each other, its even that much harder to get through those issues with an animal since it does not speak English to us. It communicates in its own language which may sometimes be very physically hostile, but we are left with no way of being able to interpret what that animal may be attempting to communicate other then to make guess work at the obvious mechanics of any given problem as we have learned as a seasoned rider or animal person. Animals have general natures like people. Some are more ambitious then others. Some are more athletically inclined then others. Some thrive on the competitive spirit and some are a great deal more mellow or lethargic by nature. If a rider is having trouble taking his very Taurus moon horse thru the top level of competition, it may be that the animal is simply (being a Taurus) much more inclined to lay in the sun under a tree, be very stubborn in general and pack little kids around. Is it not possible that said rider may benefit from looking for a more Aries type of horse with a greater competitive spirit? What if a rider's sun sign is squaring the sign dominant in the animal? In human relationships this makes for a very difficult relations in some cases. Two people with obstinate aspects to each others chart simply never see eye to eye. If you don't understand the nature of the difference in perspective or attitude, its very difficult to resolve the issue. One of you has to change or give in...the rider is the most obvious choice to be assertive in this scenario since the rider is the one with the conscious control of the process. The animal will only give in under threat of pain or severe abuse or discipline, but you the rider have the option of working through your OWN issues FIRST. It is oftentimes the case a rider will take out his or her personal aggressions which are residual from the home life on the animal. These issues can readily be seen in many human charts. A woman who is single, who is very attached to her horse, may relate to her horse a great deal more like she would relate to a prominent man in her life which she is LACKING. This will be totally subconscious. If her choices of men are poor, more often then not she will choose an animal poorly who may embody many of the same qualities of an abusive relationship. If she is attracted to violent men, she may be attracted to ill mannered badly behaved horses as well. If she is attracted to the dangerous type, this will manifest in her choice of animals in some cases. The question is WHY? This is not always the case but I have seen it happen in the equestrian world many times. If the rider is a capable enough rider this is not necessarily a bad thing provided the rider is not going to be in danger of getting hurt. Some people enjoy the adrenaline and that's ok as long as you are aware of the motivating drive to the dynamic. Others with these tendencies however may not have the SKILL to handle these situations. There is much more danger of injury to animal and person as a result if this dynamic is not addressed. You will always project what you are attracted to. What you are attracted to in humans will likely be very similar to what you are attracted to in animals. This can be good and it can be not so good. The fact is, its a subconscious process we are often times not aware of. Our training conflicts may be a by product of our expectations of those issues we have difficulty with at home and without realizing it, the riders aggressions or issues may come out in the arena as being inflicted on the animal. This is a type of "displacement" that the human continually imposes onto another person or animal for fear of dealing with it at the source. You will see this a great deal with teenage riders who have trouble at home. An instructor may witness an abnormal amount of aggressive tendency over the horse at any given time by his or her teenage student. Many training problems are a result of this kind of mis-management of personal psychology. many 'power over" issues come to the for in the arena time and time again. In these situations any observer with keen insight can tell the difference when something is getting out of control and the riders response is very much overkill for the situation. Sometimes the animal will symbolize a typical behavior issue not worked out in the personal life since the human tends to always attract that which it has not resolved yet. Or put in a different way, the animal may represent the alter ego of the rider which the rider has not owned within himself. Perhaps the owner often gets in over his or head by choosing the wrong type of horse which is possibly too much horse for him, to violent or very badly behaved. This can indicate boundary issues which manifest in lack of obedience in general. The animal may always be dominant, if the owner is a naturally submissive personality. It can become a vicarious subconscious relationship which is not grounded in the reality of what the relationship should be on practical terms. If a trainers planets are badly aspected to an animals planets. This can indicate a constant day to day struggle in an attempt to force the animal into the framework the rider expects. A rider will push a horses trigger buttons just as a horse will push a riders emotional trigger buttons. What are those buttons and why do they get pushed in the first place? When you are armed with the information of the natural tendencies, its easier to assess a strategy that may be more beneficial. Perhaps this horse needs a softer hand, or a different rider with a different personality make up. Perhaps the animal functions better in a different environment more suited to his nature which the planetary aspects may indicate. Perhaps the RIDER may do better in a different environment. A change of scenery may be in order, a different combination of personalities may be in order, a different approach may be in order. Any number of possible things might be gleaned from having such a reference handy at your disposal. Astrology can assist in the understanding of these kinds of dynamics and perspectives and offer suggestions for solutions. Persephone RC Copy write, 2004
